It’s not every day that a Black Clover fan can boast about the show’s animation quality, but that’s certainly not the case when it comes to “Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King.”
This movie, available on Netflix, is a visual delight. Indicators already suggested the film was a hit among fans and a success for Netflix. Now, Black Clover fans have solid numbers to back up that claim.
In just three days after its release, “Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King” garnered over 6.4 million views on Twitter and chalked up 12 million hours viewed worldwide. If that wasn’t enough to deem the film successful, it also clinched the second spot on Netflix’s ranking for non-English films (this ranking covers the period from June 12 to June 18).
On Netflix US, the Black Clover film found itself in the 10th spot, trailing behind “Extraction 2” at the top. In Japan, the film clinched the third position during the same ranking period.
The film also achieved high scores on review platforms. On Rotten Tomatoes, the audience gave it a rating of 97% based on 500 reviews, while on MyAnimeList, it secured an impressive score of 8.24 out of 10, rated by over 32,000 users.
What is Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard About?
The storyline was overseen by Yuki Tabata, the creator of the Black Clover manga. The film centers on Conrad Leto, a former wizard king who preceded Julius. Conrad Leto rebelled against the Kingdom, resulting in Julius sealing him away.
Fast forward ten years, Julius loses most of his powers, which results in Conrad Leto’s liberation. Leto revives three previous Wizard Kings who sympathize with his cause. His aim is to demolish the kingdom and reconstruct it according to his vision.
With many of the Magic Knight captains defeated or sealed away, the responsibility falls on Asta and his friends to ruin his plans.
“Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King” offers one epic battle after another. There’s hardly a dull moment or unnecessary dialogue. If you’re a fan of intense, flashy battles and Black Clover, this film is a must-watch.
