The official website for the DanMachi anime adaptation has announced that Episode 12 of DanMachi Season 5, originally scheduled to air on December 27, 2024, has been delayed indefinitely due to production issues.
The full statement from the production team reads as follows:
“Thank you very much for your continued support of the ‘DanMachi’ series.
Regarding episode 12 of ‘Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? V’, which was scheduled to air on Friday, December 27, 2024, we have been forced to postpone the broadcast due to production reasons.
The broadcast and streaming schedule for episode 12 will be announced on the ‘DanMachi’ portal site and official SNS at a later date.
We sincerely apologize to viewers who were looking forward to the broadcast for keeping them waiting due to the repeated changes in the broadcast schedule.
All of our staff will continue to do our utmost to deliver the highest quality possible. Thank you for your understanding.”
This delay marks a notable disruption in the DanMachi Season 5 broadcast, which began airing on October 5, 2024. Season 5 was initially announced to consist of 15 episodes, but the delay of Episode 12 introduces uncertainty about the conclusion of this season’s storyline and whether additional episodes will face similar challenges.
Delays in anime production are not uncommon and have occurred across previous DanMachi seasons, although not to this extent.
The most recent significant disruptions were during Season 4, which aired in two split cours: the first from July to September 2022 and the second from January to March 2023. While these splits were pre-announced, the current situation differs due to the indefinite nature of the delay.
The production team has assured fans that updates regarding the rescheduled broadcast and streaming of Episode 12 will be communicated via the official DanMachi portal and social media channels. No further details have been provided at this time.
DanMachi began as a light novel series by Fujino Ōmori, first published on January 15, 2013, under GA Bunko, with 20 volumes released as of December 2024. The manga adaptation, illustrated by Kunieda, serialized from August 2, 2013, to 2018, spans 10 volumes, followed by a second adaptation by Taisei Yamachi starting in 2019, with 5 volumes to date.
The anime, produced by J.C.Staff, debuted on April 4, 2015, with subsequent seasons airing in 2019, 2020, 2022-2023 (split cour for Season 4), and Season 5 beginning October 5, 2024.
