DanMachi Season 5 is set to resume in Spring 2025 after a production delay caused by issues within J.C.STAFF, the studio responsible for the series. This delay affects the release of the final four episodes of the season, originally scheduled to air earlier. The official announcement confirms the episodes will now air sometime between April and June 2025.
To maintain momentum and keep fans engaged, the production team has unveiled a new promotional visual for the climax of the season, featuring Bell Cranel confronting Ottar, hinting at a pivotal moment in the story.
The current season focuses on the Fertility Goddess Arc, a storyline that brings Syr Flova, a tavern waitress with deep connections to Bell, to the forefront. This arc has expanded on Bell’s character development and his relationships within Orario while introducing higher stakes for the Familia factions.
The delayed episodes are expected to dive into the “Faction War,” a climactic conflict central to this season’s storyline.
For those unfamiliar, DanMachi—short for Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?—is a franchise that began as a light novel series written by Fujino Ōmori, with illustrations by Suzuhito Yasuda. The series started in January 2013 under the GA Bunko label and has since expanded into multiple adaptations, including manga, anime, and even a feature film.
The main light novel series currently stands at 20 volumes, with the recently announced 21st volume set to begin the final arc of the story. The franchise also includes the spinoff light novel series Sword Oratoria, which follows the story of Ais Wallenstein, with its 15th volume scheduled for release in January 2025.
The anime adaptation has been a cornerstone of DanMachi’s popularity. Produced by J.C.STAFF, it began airing in 2015 with its first season. Over the years, it has developed a loyal following, with subsequent seasons in 2019, 2020, and 2022-2023. Season 5 began airing in October 2024 but hit a snag partway through, resulting in the current delay.
