Fire Force is in its final arc, but that doesn’t mean Atsushi Ōkubo is going to go easy on us. This exact sentence was said in last week’s article for chapter 291 of Ōkubo’s hit series. In that chapter not only did he confirm captain Obi was dead, he also killed off every other character, aside from Shinra, Sho, and Haumea.
However, after last week’s terrifying and shocking twist ending, fans of the series are getting some good news, as it seems one fan-favorite character has returned, although it is unsure if he is actually alive or in some other form.
Read on to find out what on Adolla is going on, plus everything else you need to know for this upcoming chapter, from spoilers to release dates and more.
Chapter 291 Recap
Before we jump into spoilers for chapter 292 let’s do a quick recap of what went down in the most recent chapter of the series.
As seen in chapter 290 we watch as Shinra succumbs to his rage rushing at Haumea regardless that he can’t hit her. Shinra keeps attacking her over and over again, even though he knows none of his attacks will land. Unknown to him, however, his rage-filled attacks are ending the world.
Back on Earth, we see as despair starts to take over the planet, with the last human hope, captain Obi killed and the Saviour Shinra goes full devil mode, people have nothing left but despair. Thanks to the increased despair, the catalyst can begin. We watch as both civilian and fan-favorite characters get burned away by the flames of the catalyst.
Then Shinra stops attacking for a brief second to look down on Earth where he sees all his comrades burning to death. After seeing this Shinra believes there is nothing left to fight for. As he too gives in to despair. Fueling the catalyst so much that it is able to cover the entire planet. By the end of the chapter, Earth is no more instead just a ball of black flames.
Chapter 292 Spoilers
Now that we are all caught up, let’s dive right into chapter 292’s spoilers. Warning, however, some raws for the upcoming chapter are already out so there are confirmed spoilers below, you have been warned.
This upcoming chapter picks up right where the previous chapter left us. With Shinra apparently succumbing to despair and attacking Haumea as he boils over with anger. Picking up from there we see Shinra rush forward and yell something out as he tries to attack Haumea again, but he is swiftly struck in the head before he is able to attack.
Not knowing who attacked him Shinra looks around lost before a voice calls out to him. As he realizes who struck him, Shinra complains that it hurt a lot, we then cut to who hit Shinra over the head. It’s none other than the fan-favorite that many have considered dead for quite a while, Arthur Boyle, the knight.
We get to see Arthur is talking to his sword Excalibur, which can apparently talk. We also see Arthur up in space where we last saw him, which is the perfect set up seeing as how Arthur wasn’t on Earth when it was engulfed in despair, meaning he is unaffected and probably the last person alive. But the strangest part of all of this is that Arthur is whole and in one piece in the raws. However, if you remember the last time we saw Arthur he was drifting into the sun and his entire lower body had been severed off.
Due to this, it is currently unsure if Arthur is really alive or not. Although some are saying that Arthur’s soul now resides in Excalibur, his weapon. Which appears to be the Arthur we see in this upcoming chapter, even though his body is gone Arthur’s soul continues to fight on. Please keep in mind that this is not official nor confirmed, but instead what we are assuming based on the panels we have seen so far and the few fan translations currently available.
After Arthur, calms Shinra down and appears and explains himself to Shinra, how he is alive, etc. The chapter seems to end with Haumea is trying to get Shinra to despair again by summoning Shinra and Sho’s infernal mother from the Adolla region. Ending the chapter as the two children finally get to see their mother again, albeit in demon form.
