When Will Jujutsu Kaisen Manga End?

On Feb 27, 2021, during an interview, Gege Akutami revealed that Jujutsu Kaisen manga is past the halfway point of its story, and is set to conclude in 2 years (till 2023)

Gege Akutami: “I am talking with my editor that manga will be over in 2 years but we will have have to see what editor thinks about this decision”

Do You Have Decided How Manga Will End?

Gege Akutami: “I have decided the ending. In another interview, I said that Fushiguro’s end was decided but Itadori’s end is yet to be decided. Also Sukuna’s end slightly undecided”

Why Sukuna is obsessed with Fushiguro?

Interviewer asked Gege that why is it that Sukuna likes Fushiguro that much? Author was hesitant to answer this question first but it seems like he told the interviewer about what he has planned for Sukuna and Fushiguro, but requested to left this part out of the interview.

Will Yuji Itadori Parents Ever Appear In Manga?

Yes, Gege Akutami is planning to introduce Yuji Itadori parents in Jujutsu Kaisen manga.

Gege Akutami: “I am planning to draw them (Yuji Itadori parents) well.

In another interview, author answered that he has decided his mother’s role in the story be he is still not sure if he wants to introduce his father.

Gege Akutami: “Yes, I have decided his mother’s role and I more or less know when I want to make her come up in the story. I am not sure if I want to introduce his father.

What is the favorite character of Gege Akutami?

Kento Nanami is favorite character of Jujutsu Kaisen author.

Gege Akutami: “Kento Nanami is my favorite character. I started to grasp the story when he was introduced”.

What was your inspiration for protagonist Yuji Itadori?

He is strongly based of my elder brother who is my opposite. He is someone who succeeds in everything he does: sports, studies …

When did you start reading manga?

Gege Akutami: “I think I got my first manga when I was around 8. My parents offered me the sixth volume of the comic series Takeshi! to stop me from whinning too much while on a family trip. At home, I was able to read some Dragon Ball, Yuyu Hakusho or Kochikame, all bought by my older brother I think.

What Jump series did you read mostly?

Gege Akutami: “First Dragon Ball, then I read Naruto, One Piece and Bleach which were the 3 Jump Pillars for a long time … I have been reading those Jump series to some extent since around 2004. I was influenced by a lot of them but I am a big fan of the Sensui cycle in Yuyu Hokusho as well as Level E, another manga by Yoshiro Togashi. I reread both regularly”.

Gege Akutami and Tite Kubo (Bleach author) also did an interview together where they talked about their inspiration and what they liked or unlike most about each others work.

Women characters that you find interesting in Jujutsu Kaisen?

Tite Kubo: Sorry to say that in front of the author, but none of the female characters fit my taste.
